Dementia Training LLC

Dementia Training LLC, offers a flexible learning experience, offering on-line, classroom, and targeted facility based training options. Class sizes start at just 2 and can be as large as 15-20 depending on your requirements. Our on-line option allows students from anywhere to join in on a training and certification class. We have worked with Community Colleges, Home Care Agencies, Long Term Care Agencies and individuals, to train participants in caring for people with Alzheimer’s.

Our instructor, Mary Horstman, RN, MBA is a National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners’ Trainer with 20 years’ experience in Alzheimer’s care.

Mary’s experience includes work as a Geriatric RN at Alexian Brothers Hospital, as well as work in Home Health Care, with many years teaching and training caregivers about Alzheimer’s care.

For the past 10 years, Mary has been an Adjunct Professor at Harper College in Palatine Illinois. She is a Certified Nursing Instructor. Her curriculum includes 12 hours of Alzheimer’s instruction where her students receive both classroom and clinical experience.

Start Your Path to Certification

Geared toward healthcare professionals and frontline staff, particularly Alzheimer’s Supervisors, as mandated on June 2, 2019 by the State of Illinois Administrative Code 245 or 280 under title 77. This training will prepare a healthcare professional for qualification to the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners as a Certified Practitioner candidate (visit nccdp.org for more details).

 Course curriculum includes modules on topics such as diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, depression, repetitive behaviors, paranoia, wandering, catastrophic reactions, intimacy and sex, personal care, pain, nutrition, activities, environment, and staff and family support.
